Gisele’s mission in Africa

As an invitation from the United Nations, Gisele Bündchen is in Kenya since January 9th to participate in her first mission as an UNEP Ambassador. Today, on January 13, she participated in a press conference in Nairobi to talk about the Year of Sustainable Development for All as a part of the campaign Sustainable Energy for All, an initiative created by the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon.

During this week, the Goodwill Ambassador, alongside UK Charity Practical Action, visited communities that face energy poverty problems and was able to experience first-hand the real impact this has on the lives of the local residents, especially women and girls. Gisele also learned about the solutions that are being developed to increase the quality of their lives and also help spur economic growth, which is necessary to alleviate poverty.

In addition to this, Gisele visited projects that implement efficient stoves in communities that have a high number of deaths due to indoor smoke inhalation that occurs by cooking inside their homes without any ventilation.

Designed to focus both on ‘need’ and ‘solutions’, the aim of this mission was to ensure that Gisele would be able to draw attention to the cause, encouraging people all around the world to start making ‘practical actions’.

Stay tuned on the Übersite. Soon we will have exclusive images and more details on Gisele’s experience.
