During her trip to Kenya, the Goodwill Ambassador, alongside UK Charity, Practical Action, visited communities that were actively seeking answers to their energy poverty problems in order to increase the quality of their lives and also help spur economic growth, which is necessary to alleviate poverty.
In a video released by Practical Action, Gisele talks about her first impressions of the region: “Walking there I felt […] a sensory overloading of every form I can imagine […] I can’t believe they live under these conditions’”.
Gisele visited several places; met extraordinary people; experienced the everyday struggle of many women; danced; and felt overwhelmed by their strength. “They are just joyous and they’re just happy. They focus on the solution […]they have a huge sense of entrepreneurship here; they want to work; they want to do; they’re giving 150% all the time; they’re giving their all. It’s so inspiring!”
